Uptown

If you've never visited Charlotte, NC, you should! It's a great and exciting growing city-not too big, but definitely growing. Mike and I have always loved just going "uptown" (it's not big enough yet to have a downtown) to walk around and in the past few years we have be marveling at all the many buildings that have been going up. One of our favorite hot spots in uptown in called "The Green". It's a great park, one city block long, right in the middle of the city with a few restaurants, amazing looking apartments, a little Catholic church that's been there for ages and the most amazing grass you'd ever lay eye's on.

The heat and humidity seemed to break yesterday and it was turning into a lovely evening-warm, no humidity and the most pleasant breeze. We decided we would head downtown, play on the green and eat a slice of pizza.

We called around (last minute) to round up some of our friends with little ones to join us but didn't have much luck. But we did finally manage to convince Paul, Traci and Greta.

Here's our little piggy sitting next to a piggy. (A little side note: Colin took his first good fall right before we decided to head out. He was walking and fell, nose first, into the wooden leg of a chair. Just a bunch of bruises: on the bridge of his nose, on the tip of his nose and above his lip. First of many, right?)
And here's Greta!
Kids (and Mike!) in action.
A little blurry but look at that step!
Here Mike is explaining the way the guys were working on one of the buildings under construction: to complete the exterior on the very top of the building the guys hang from ropes off the top and repel down to their desired level and work from there. How crazy.
Perfect weather + friends + grass to wear out the kids = a fun evening!

  1. Your blog posts have been exceptional!! I love the pic where Mike is explaining about the buildings....it looks as if Greta is really following along and checking out what he's talking about.

    Cute!

  2. With that striped red and white outfit on, he looks like he's marching in a parade! Love it!
