Colin has a bit of a stubborn streak in him and can throw a good fit if he wants to. Most often it's over putting on his socks and shoes but his fits can include-and are certainly not limited to-diaper changes, getting dressed, drying off after a bath, not getting to play with the toy/book/house-hold appliance, etc. of his choice. You know, basic toddler stuff.
Well in the last few weeks he really has not enjoyed putting on the shoes he's been wearing but we usually just battle through it, put the shoes on and get on our way. Mike was taking him to school one Wednesday not that long ago and had quite the time getting those shoes on. He managed to accomplish the task after a few brutal moments but Colin refused to stand or walk on his own. Mike just scooped him up and put him in the car and drove to school.
Once at school, however, Colin still refused to walk so Mike carried him in to school, alerted his teachers to his strange behavior and went on his way.
When he went back to pick him up, his teachers explained that Colin really never came around and was still refusing to walk on his own. To further assess the situation they took off his shoes, put him down in the hallway of the school and he took off running. So they decided that it was probably the shoes that were bothering him and got out this spare pair:
Aren't they cute? He ended up wearing this pair of too-big girl shoes (see the pretty flower on the zipper pull?) for the rest of the day and did just fine!

That is hilarious!
