Working on Little Things

We all accomplished a lot today. Colin worked on getting back on the floor when he's ready to take a break from being on his feet:

And Mike and I, in keeping with our "finishing-up-loose-ends-around-the-house" kick that we've been on, built a couple shelves in our laundry room. Our current laundry room was the original kitchen that we converted when we put on our house addition almost two years ago. And it's been unfinished ever since! Colin hung in there all afternoon while we busted out the noisy tools...he definitely DID NOT like the sounds of the saw and the air compressor and proceeded to cling to whoever was holding him for dear life. But he was a trooper. How he managed to still take his afternoon nap with all the commotion is beyond me. But he did (almost 2 hours-thanks, Colin!) and between his nap and playing for a while with dad while I finished up a couple things we accomplished these two projects:
A shoe shelf near the backdoor:

and a shelf and cubby nook for random things like our recycling, backpacks, wallets and that smelly litter box! I'm sure it will be another two years before all this gets painted but that's ok. We'll just add it the running list of other things around the house that are still lacking paint.
