He loves to work

It seems that as long as Colin feels as though he's helping us with our daily chores and upkeep around the house, he's pretty content to let us get some things done around here.  For example, while folding laundry, as long as he's "participating" in the folding (picture clothes just flying around the room with a piece or two eventually landing unfolded back in your lap) or helping you carry a pile of folded clothes to their appropriate room (this time picture little hands grabbing a pile of folded clothes and the folded clothes falling out of their folded state on to the floor) he's pretty happy and quite pleased with himself.  Of course throwing anything away in the trash can will make him excited as well as loading up the dishwasher-especially the knives.  Recently he's taken such a liking to the broom-usually while we're sweeping-that we had to get him his own broom to avoid a meltdown everytime we attempted to sweep the floor during waking hours.

We have a little door mat at our front door and often I will just sweep up the floor with a little broom and dustpan instead of getting the larger broom AND the dustpan...it just seems easier to me.  This afternoon Colin moved the door mat away from the front door and went running into the laundry room.  At first I wasn't quite sure what he had in his mind and when I heard a small clattering from within the other room I became curious.  Out he came proudly displaying the little broom and dustpan in his little hands and proceeded to get down on the floor and sweep up in front of the door!

Thanks for all your help, bud!

  1. Good job, get him started early! I can't believe how big he looks - so much like a little boy.

  4. You'll need to remind him of his love of work when he's 15 and wants to sleep til noon. :) Can you imagine him ever being that old?!
