Just a few things

When I was growing up we had a bunch of Christmas books that would only come out for Christmas.  I used to look forward to getting those books out every year!  So I was excited this year when I opened one of our Christmas boxes in the attic and found our (few) Christmas books.  This book, in particular, has been a Colin favorite this season.  And he loves to sniff at all the pages that have the scratch and sniff.  Only he mostly "sniffs" with his mouth.  His nose touches the page but his mouth does all the work.
This afternoon we went through the entire book about four times, "sniffing" each page.  In between sniffs Colin would walk from where I was sitting in the living room, all the way in to his room, and then would turn around to make sure I was scratching the next page and then would come running back to take the next sniff.  All four times.

There are a few other books that are Colin favorites:  any lift-the-flaps, a couple big word books, Brown Bear, Brown Bear and The Very Hungry Caterpillar (which you can see him reading below).  Mostly he likes the pages with the little holes in them from where the caterpillar has taken his bites and will turn to these pages immediately.  And mostly he likes the page with all the different foods (one cupcake, one slice of swiss cheese, etc) and will sit and poke his little fingers through just about every hole.

If I wear my hair down Colin likes to pull it over my face from both sides and then look through it.  This can be a painful game for me and it usually doesn't last too long!

And, last but not least, if you ask Colin to put his foot in his mouth, he will! and bite on his toes (giggling all the while, of course!)  I just asked him randomly one day a week or so ago and he just did it.  Now it's become a favorite game during diaper changes or, really, just about any time.  I wish I was that flexible!

  4. The Sweet Smell of Christmas was my FAVORITE Christmas book when I was little. Last year I found it for sale and snatched it up. I think it was published in 1973! Greta likes it, too. I love stuff like that - - generations of traditions!
