Words

Colin doesn't have many words but he's got a few. The big ones are "dada" (very distinct and definitely associated with Mike), "bubble" (pronounced "buh-bow" with a drawn out "bow") and "bye-bye" (still sounding more like "ba-ba" but we get the idea). Anytime we ask him if he can say doggie or he hears our neighbor's dogs barking we get a "gagk-gagk" (or something like that) and his word these days for mama is more like a "baba" but hey, I'll take it! In the way of signs he's got milk taken care of, eat and help (which these two look awfully similar to each other-both involve hands frantically pointing to his chest) and, probably his favorite, more. Even before we give him any food, he starts making the "more" sign. Usually his "eat" sign is accompanied by him standing in front of his chair in the kitchen and standing on his toes to get in it.
Throughout the day he uses the sound "eh?" to mean several things: I'm frustrated, help me with this, what is this, here-you look at this....he "says" this a lot!
Oh-and maybe our all-time favorite: when he hears the "ee-i-ee-i-oh" part of "Old MacDonald" he'll often sing "yi-ee-yi-ee-yi"-not every time, but when he does it's pretty fun for everyone.

  1. That's so exciting. Can't wait to hear what he has to say over the holidays!
