Hello. Colin and I made it to Syracuse this past Saturday after and slightly delayed, but smooth, afternoon flight. I must confess that I was a slight nervous wreck the few days leading up to the trip worrying about travelling alone with our 10.5 month old who just wants to be down on the ground and my giant laptop computer which weighs about 14 pounds. But, after a minor fussy spell through the security line and a somewhat complicated boarding process I realized that hey, it's not so bad after all. Poor little guy still had his nasty cold/virus during the flight which caused more goo to spill out of his eyes and more snot to ooze out of his nose after a much needed nap and to make matters worse, Saturday afternoon he developed some hives which caused even more stress about taking him up into the friendly skies. By yesterday morning, still more snot, more goo and more hives. A trip to the urgent care determined that Colin has a minor allergy to penicillin. Who knew. Neither Mike nor I are allergic but it's good to know that Colin is and we've since stopped the medicine and the hives are going away. Nothing like being away from home with your sick baby.
After the urgent care trip my mom, Colin and I took a little 2 hour drive to Buffalo to spend the afternoon at my sister's second wedding shower hosted by her sister-in-law to be, Rae Ann. The weather wasn't the best but the company was wonderful and it was fun to meet some more of the new family that Jess is marrying into. It made for a long day but Colin was in
superb spirits (all things considered) and only cried once on the drive home after the car went over a gigantic bump in the road and startled him out of his deep slumber.
We're here in Syracuse until Thursday when we'll be joined by Mike. Friday we're heading over to Lake George for Mike's family's annual Fourth of July family reunion...and we'll get to meet
Ellie for the first time!
Hang in there! Colin and his mom are troopers!
